During the Qing Dynasty, in the year of Yong-zheng, there was a Mr. Wei who lived in the Wu-xin County in Zhejiang. He made axes for a living. He enjoyed shooting birds and catching fish, frogs, tortoises and other animals. Some people tried to advise him and showed him examples of the retribution for killing, hoping that he would change for the better. However, Mr. Wei did not feel any remorse for what he did. He just sneered at them as he had no faith in such stories.
As time went by, his offences grew heavier and deeper. One day, he was infected with malignant sores and other skin disorders. His skin was covered with numerous lesions which were shaped like bubbles with an "iron ball" in every bubble. The flesh and skin were all festering. He moaned in pain and struggled and screamed. Finally he died a torturous death.
Before he died, suddenly there came all kinds of animals like fish, frogs, tortoises and birds. They entered his room and pecked on his flesh. Mrs. Wei knew that this was the retribution for her husband who had been killing all his life. She dared not interfere nor harm those animals. By the time they finished, his bones had been picked clean. He died without leaving any descendants. This incident happened during the tenth year of Yong-zheng at the time of the Qing Dynasty.
